This course is a requirement for anyone engaged in underground metalliferous mining including shot firers, drillers & production operators within Australia as specified by Safe Work Australia.  This qualification introduces you to the environmental and safety protocols of underground mine sites and qualifies you for operator and production roles

The course consists of theory & practical training, followed by an assessment day which consists of both written & practical components.

The Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining, RII30320, is designed for individuals engaged in underground metalliferous mining, including shot firers, drillers, and production operators. Certificate holders exercise discretion and judgment in their day-to-day tasks, making informed decisions about equipment usage, service selection, and contingency planning.

Core and Elective Units: This qualification comprises both core and elective units of competency. These units are structured to cover the skills needed for four specialist and one general underground metalliferous mining streams. To earn the qualification, candidates must fulfill the core and elective unit requirements of one of these streams, ensuring electives are pertinent to the work environment, align with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF),  and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Appropriate clothing and covered shoes or boots, food and drinks.  This course is covered in both a face to face & online learning environment. There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

There are no preparation requirements for this course.

Upon successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment of RII30320.
